We are thrilled to announce that Jessica Alazraki’s painting, Holding Cat in Orange, 2021 has been acquired by the New York Historical Society through the generous gift of Pamela and David Hornik. The painting was on view in the exhibition Pets in the City from April - October, 2025 and now has a permanent home in their collection.
A New Yorker originally from Mexico City, Alazraki infuses her work with the warmth and connectivity of familia. She expresses this concept - which she identifies as core to Latino culture - through not only subject but color and composition. Here, sunlight from a window intensifies the already vivid orange of an abstracted interior, which sizzles against the cooler aqua tones of the curtain. A cat, held alof, reflects the white light of the window and connects the two children in an unbroken line echoes by that of the circular canvas itself. Alazraki currently has a dog named Muse, who keeps her company in the studio.

At his current solo exhibition with Rajiv Menon in Los Angeles, Khanna uses the lavish spectacle of the Indian Wedding as a vehicle to explore ongoing themes in his work - consumerism, excess, and the role that social media plays in our culture.
